Senator Fetterman Criticizes Maine Senate Candidate Graham Platner Amid Scandals

3 weeks ago 0

Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania expressed strong criticisms toward Maine Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner following recent controversies. During a conversation with reporters in Washington, D.C., Fetterman addressed reports that Platner had sent explicit messages to multiple women while maintaining an active profile on Kik. Kik is known for its lax identification standards, which have facilitated the spread of inappropriate content.

Fetterman questioned, “What kind of a creeper has spent a decade on a platform like Kik, and sends a dozen explicit kinds of messages?” His comments came after the scandal regarding Platner’s behavior surfaced, which was reported by CNN.

Fetterman also referenced Platner’s past activities on Reddit, where under the username ‘P-Hustle,’ Platner had made controversial remarks about downplaying sexual assault and other inappropriate topics. Additionally, Fetterman highlighted the controversy over Platner’s tattoo that appeared to resemble a Nazi symbol, which remained uncovered for 18 years.

While Fetterman voiced these criticisms, he did not endorse Platner’s potential Republican rival, Senator Susan Collins of Maine. He indicated that collaboration would be necessary if Platner succeeds in the general election.

Fetterman also expressed his disappointment with fellow Democrats who have not condemned Platner’s scandals. Drawing comparisons to previous situations involving Democrats, Fetterman said, “Last time Democrats leaned in on a guy sending these types of messages, it wasn’t someone I could support.”
