The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call on Wednesday morning at a residence located in the 19200 block of Erwin Street. A 911 caller reportedly stated, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”
When officers arrived, they found Handy, who was 81 years old, unconscious in the front yard with a stab wound to his chest. Despite being transported to a local hospital, he was pronounced dead.
Suspect and Investigation
The suspect has been identified by the LAPD as Michael Gledhill, 44, from Tarzana. Gledhill is said to have flagged down officers upon their arrival, informing them that he was the individual they were seeking.
Gledhill reportedly lived at the residence with his mother, Handy’s girlfriend. He has been arrested and booked into the Van Nuys Jail on murder charges, and his bail has been set at $2 million.
