Sixteen years after the biographical drama “The Social Network,” a fresh narrative about Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg emerges in “The Social Reckoning,” a new drama set to be released soon. The initial preview launched on Wednesday and has captured attention with its intriguing approach.

Directed by Aaron Sorkin, “The Social Reckoning” boasts an impressive cast featuring Emmy-award winner Jeremy Allen White and Oscar recipient Mikey Madison. Jeremy Strong takes on the role of Zuckerberg, originally portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg in the earlier film.

This new film shifts focus from Facebook’s inception to the 2021 whistleblower case that shook the company. Mikey Madison plays engineer Frances Haugen, who leaked thousands of Facebook documents to the Wall Street Journal. The film also stars Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, and Bill Burr.

Expected to release on October 9, the production is a result of collaboration between Columbia Pictures, Alcon Entertainment, The Gotham Group, and Escape Artists. Sony Pictures Releasing handles distribution.

The release of the film’s first look prompted fans to express their excitement on social media. Comments highlighted the stellar ensemble cast for a tech drama and predicted an intense and grounded storytelling experience.

Fans remarked on Jeremy Allen White and Mikey Madison’s performances, with one mentioning, “White as the Wall Street Journal reporter and Madison as Haugen sounds intriguing.” Another expressed anticipation, “That cast is impressive. If the writing meets expectations, this will be significant cinema.”

Beyond casting praise, viewers noted Strong’s compelling portrayal of Zuckerberg. His delivery of the line, “I’m not two years out of a dorm room anymore Charlie!” emphasizes Facebook’s growth and evolving complexities since its early days.
