Spencer Pratt announced the end of his campaign for Los Angeles mayor through a video on social media. He said his efforts to ‘save’ the city would conclude with the campaign phase.
Pratt, a Republican and former reality TV star, came in third during the primary election, securing about 25% of the vote. This outcome places Mayor Karen Bass and Councilwoman Nithya Raman, both Democrats, in the November runoff, as reported by The Associated Press.
Former President Trump had pointed to Pratt’s loss as an example of election fraud but provided no evidence. Trump questioned how Pratt, initially in second place, fell to third in the subsequent days. The counting process in California is often lengthier due to a high volume of mail-in ballots from late voters.
Pratt, in his video, did not indicate he would dispute the election results. Instead, he signaled an end to his campaign while continuing his criticism of Bass and Raman, whom he called ‘dumb and dumber.’ His video included numerous insults, provocative dialogue, and swift cuts of dystopian images set to dissonant audio.
Pratt declared, ‘I didn’t get in this for political power, I got in this to expose this corrupt machine, and nothing’s changed. I don’t have campaign laws hamstringing me now. It’s war.’
