Ohio Man’s Alleged Attack Plot on White House UFC Event Thwarted by Mother

1 week ago 0

A concerned mother potentially stopped an alleged assault plan targeting a UFC event at the White House. Her alertness about her son’s increasing fascination with firearms and covert online interactions led to her contacting authorities.

Court documents acquired by Fox News Digital indicate that Tycen Proper, a 19-year-old from Ohio, drew the attention of investigators after his mother’s concerns. She noticed her son’s behavior changes and turned to law enforcement. Proper faces charges in connection with an alleged conspiracy to target the UFC Freedom 250 event on June 14, held on the South Lawn of the White House.

Federal agents claim the alleged scheme involved explosive drones, snipers, and synchronized attacks. Proper’s mother informed them of his research into places near Washington, D.C., and receipt of maps and images via text and Discord.

FBI officials disrupted the alleged explosive-drone plot at the White House UFC event, citing actions from Proper’s mother as a key factor.

When questioned, Proper reportedly mentioned his group’s plans to carry out “recon” and “hit and run” missions. His mother interpreted this as plans for attacks. On June 10, she reached out to authorities, wary of Proper’s surge in firearm acquisitions and online communications with strangers.

When local officers visited the Knox County, Ohio, home, Proper’s father confirmed his son’s interaction with online acquaintances and the intention to conduct “recons.” He also disclosed Proper’s plan to meet these individuals during June 13.

Family behavior specialist calls a family’s decision to turn in a suspect in a related case “almost unheard of.”

Proper had reportedly bought multiple firearms, body armor, and tactical gear, spending around $3,000 of his graduation money. Family members surrendered this equipment to law enforcement voluntarily.

Investigations found that Proper was influenced by an online group claiming former military ties and Christian beliefs. The group seemed to encourage his focus on physical and tactical readiness.

With information from local authorities, the FBI reviewed Proper’s phone. They allegedly discovered encrypted messages about a planned attack at the June 14 UFC event. Discussions included explosive-loaded drones and shooters at exit paths. Proper later admitted his involvement in planning talks.

The event, UFC Freedom 250, was hosted by President Donald Trump on the South Lawn, celebrating his 80th birthday with UFC matches.

Retired FBI agent Jason Pack emphasized the crucial role of family vigilance in identifying concerning behavior and alerting authorities, noting, “That’s how this got stopped.”

Before investigators accessed encrypted communication, the first significant lead emerged from a mother’s intuition and her proactive steps.

In a conversation on “The Will Cain Show,” former FBI agent Rob Chadwick lauded the mother’s boldness, highlighting her decision to prioritize public safety even at personal cost. “Thank you to the one mother’s courage to come forward,” Chadwick stated, emphasizing the need for awareness amid rising political violence.
