4 days ago 0

The Los Angeles Police Department made public body camera footage on Friday. The video shows an officer shooting a woman’s pet dog. This incident, which happened last Saturday, has led to widespread international criticism and questions about the use of force by police.

The dog, a 2-year-old golden saint berdoodle named Jameson, was shot outside an apartment. Officers were responding to reports of a woman screaming. It was later determined that the woman, Marie Marseille, was celebrating the New York Knicks winning the NBA championship.

The released footage includes video from both officers’ body cameras. It shows them approaching an apartment door after a neighbor’s call to 911. The caller reported hearing screams for 20 minutes, and officers were asked to perform a wellness check.

The video displays the officers knocking on the door and announcing their presence as police. This happens at nearly 9 p.m. Shortly after, a woman answers the door, and a gray dog wearing a blue shirt appears, barking. Officers request that she put the dog away while one officer unholsters his handgun.
