This election also marked the first gubernatorial bid for Sen. Michael Bennet. Throughout the primary season, both candidates were featured in numerous television attack ads, scrutinized for their perceived lack of strong “anti-Trump credentials.”

Reports from CBS Colorado’s Political Reporter Shaun Boyd highlighted questions about Weiser’s campaign funding. After joining the race, Weiser accepted substantial contributions from 68 lawyers associated with firms interacting with the Attorney General’s office, raising concerns about potential conflicts of interest.

Looking Ahead to November

In the upcoming November election, Weiser will compete against the Republican nominee from the Colorado GOP primary. The candidates include State Sen. Barb Kirkmeyer, State Rep. Scott Bottoms, and Victor Marx. They are also up against Greg Lopez, a former Congressman who left the Republican Party to run as an unaffiliated candidate.
