Camilla Supports King Charles’s Bid to Reconcile with Prince Harry

1 month ago 0

Queen Camilla is in favor of King Charles III’s efforts to mend his strained relationship with Prince Harry, though she has chosen not to get directly involved. This insight comes from royal experts speaking with Fox News Digital.

Prince Harry’s Upcoming Visit to the U.K.

Prince Harry is set to visit the U.K. on July 7 for events leading up to the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, a cause close to his heart. However, Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, won’t be joining him initially due to security concerns, which stemmed from the lack of taxpayer-funded police protection.

The possibility remains that Meghan and the children might join Harry later in the week. However, it is uncertain if King Charles will meet his grandchildren during their stay, as he hasn’t seen them in person for four years.

Camilla’s Role and Perspective

Experts indicate that Queen Camilla wants her husband, currently undergoing cancer treatment, to spend time with his young grandchildren. However, they caution that, despite any hopes for reconciliation, trust within the royal family is not fully restored.

Royal broadcaster Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital that Camilla supports Charles’s desire to reunite with Harry but regularly safeguards Charles’s interests. According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, Camilla values duty and knows the rift has troubled the king.

Potential Meeting and Concerns

Hilary Fordwich, a British royal expert, emphasized that while Camilla remains a stabilizing force and won’t prevent Charles from meeting with Harry, she keeps her distance. Fordwich noted that, given the trust issues, any meeting could be private, without extended family members present.

Following reports, Camilla plans to stay away during Harry’s visit to avoid further complications and maintain a calm atmosphere, preferring to stay at her Ray Mill residence rather than complicate matters.

Family Dynamics and Past Accusations

Prince Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” accused Camilla of leaking private conversations to improve her public image. Despite past public shunning, Camilla has gained approval through her charitable work and support for King Charles.

Katie Nicholl, Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent, highlighted Camilla’s emphasis on family, noting her encouragement of the king to spend valuable time with his grandchildren, reflecting her strength of character amidst family tensions.

Reconciliation Challenges

Harry previously expressed a desire for reconciliation, but issues remain, including sensitivity over security costs, which divested from taxpayer funding after Harry stepped down as a senior royal in 2020. Charles and Harry’s potential meeting might signal the start of reconciliation rather than an immediate resolution.
