Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting in East Los Angeles where four individuals were injured. The incident followed the Mexico-England World Cup soccer game.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, the shooting occurred around 9:35 p.m. at Whittier Boulevard and Leonard Avenue. The violence stemmed from an argument where a suspect brandished a gun and fired shots.
Two men were targeted in the shooting and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to a hospital for treatment. Likewise, a woman and a minor male also were affected but had left the scene prior to contacting deputies. They were found and taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
Details about the shooter remain unclear as of Monday morning. The area was bustling with crowds celebrating Mexico’s World Cup performance post their elimination by England, which ended in a 3-2 loss.
