Lauren Bennett Passes Away at 37, G.R.L. Mourns

Lauren Bennett, the singer known for her performance on LMFAO’s 2011 hit “Party Rock Anthem,” has died at the age of 37. The news of her passing was shared by her former group, G.R.L., through a statement on Instagram issued by members Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton, and Paula van Oppen.

The cause of Bennett’s death remains unknown. NBC News sought comments from her representative, but no response was given at the time of reporting.

Bennett rose to fame with “Party Rock Anthem,” a track that achieved significant success, topping Billboard’s chart for six weeks in 2011. LMFAO also reached No. 1 with “Sexy and I Know It.”

G.R.L., which included Paula Van Oppen, Lauren Bennett, Emmalyn Estrada, and Natasha Slayton, performed together in 2015 in San Jose, California. The group members expressed their grief stating, “Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us.” They remembered Bennett for her warmth, saying, “We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.”

Sadly, this is not the first tragedy for G.R.L.; member Simone Battle passed away in 2014. G.R.L. formed in 2011 as a reboot of the Pussycat Dolls but later adopted their current name. They gained recognition for tracks like “Ugly Heart” and “Wild Wild Love” with Pitbull. “Party Rock Anthem” remains one of LMFAO’s iconic hits, alongside “Sexy and I Know It.”
