Authorities in Lake County reported a tragic shooting incident in Mundelein on Tuesday. A man lost his life, and a woman sustained serious injuries. Two individuals are currently in custody.
Police have not disclosed the identities of those involved. Investigators suspect the incident could be related to a targeted domestic issue.
The local police were alerted to a reported shooting at an apartment on the 500 block of Deepwoods Drive around 11:40 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the man deceased and the woman with potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds. She was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment.
Mundelein police circulated a description of a vehicle believed to be linked to the crime. An officer from the Illinois State Police intercepted the vehicle near the Indiana state line and detained a man and a woman, according to the task force.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to uncover the details surrounding the incident.
