A man fleeing federal immigration authorities was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer in St. Augustine, Florida. The incident occurred shortly before 6:45 a.m. when a vehicle carrying four individuals was stopped by federal agents. All occupants fled on foot during the encounter with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents.
The unidentified 28-year-old Mexican citizen attempted to cross a busy road and was hit by a semitruck. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the pedestrian was struck in the right lane, sustaining fatal injuries at the scene. The 64-year-old truck driver stopped immediately and attempted to assist, but the man was pronounced dead.
