Former President Biden to Release Memoir ‘Promise Me, America’

Former President Joseph R. Biden Jr. announced that his memoir, “Promise Me, America,” will be released on November 17. This announcement was made through a video shared on social media.

The memoir is expected to address significant events from Biden’s presidency. Topics will include his response to the coronavirus pandemic, economic strategies, and handling of conflicts in Afghanistan and Ukraine. The book will also delve into efforts to “restore our democracy” after the events of January 6, 2021.

Mr. Biden mentioned that the book would discuss his decision to run for re-election and eventually step aside. He emphasized the central theme of faith in America’s promise.

Since leaving office 18 months ago, Biden has maintained a low public profile. His wife, Jill Biden, recently released her own memoir, while his son Hunter Biden has been actively engaging in defending the family legacy online and through podcasts.

Last month, the release of Biden’s memoir was inadvertently revealed during one of Jill Biden’s book tour events. Initially, it was mentioned that the book would come out in September, raising concerns among Democrats who aim to shift focus from Biden as they prepare for the midterms.

Biden abandoned his re-election bid two years ago following a poor debate performance and declining poll numbers. His decision to run again, despite many Americans’ preference for a younger leader, sparked regret among Democrats.

The title “Promise Me, America” references Biden’s 2017 memoir, “Promise Me, Dad,” which focused on his late son Beau, who died of brain cancer while Biden served as vice president.

In the social media announcement, Biden appeared in his home office, sharing that he has been spending time with his family and addressing a cancer diagnosis for which he is receiving treatment.
