A man from California, identified as Emmanuel Marchica, faces accusations of sexually abusing children over several years. Investigators believe more victims may yet come forward.
Marchica, 51, was arrested in Hollister on July 10. The investigation began after the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office received a report on July 5 about ongoing child sexual abuse. Detectives quickly expanded their inquiry from a single victim and discovered several other alleged victims.
Authorities suggest the abuse incidents date back to at least 2012, based on the disclosures from victims.
At the time of his arrest, Marchica was a pastor offering services at a community gathering center in San Benito County’s Hidden Valley area. According to the sheriff’s office, he also owned bakeries in Prunedale and Monterey and gyms in Sand City, Seaside, and Prunedale, where he worked as a Jiu-jitsu instructor.
Investigators suspect Marchica’s community ties exposed him to more potential victims. He was booked on multiple felony charges, such as lewd acts with a child and sexual penetration of a child, with bail set at $17.5 million.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone affected by Marchica’s actions or with relevant information to contact detectives. They emphasize offering victims dignity and respect throughout the investigation.
