Red Sox Triumph to Tie Club Winning Streak Record

2 weeks ago 0

The Boston Red Sox triumphed over the Baltimore Orioles with a 6-3 victory on Wednesday afternoon, marking their 15th consecutive win. This achievement ties a club record set 80 years ago when the 1946 team, led by future Hall of Famer Ted Williams, achieved the same feat.

In the game, Jarren Duran made significant contributions with a two-run triple and a sacrifice fly. Caleb Durbin, who previously hit a tiebreaking homer in their 14th consecutive win on Monday, added a two-run single. Ceddanne Rafaela extended Boston’s lead with a solo home run, making up for Tuesday’s rainout.

For the Orioles, Christian Encarnacion-Strand delivered a solo homer, marking his second in consecutive games. Red Sox rookie left-hander Jake Bennnett improved his season record to 6-3, pitching 5 2/3 innings and allowing three runs on nine hits. One run scored due to a sun-aided RBI double by Tyler O’Neill.

Bennnett faced a scare in the fifth inning when a 102.8 mph liner from Taylor Ward struck him in the stomach. However, after being checked by the trainer, interim manager Chad Tracy, and first baseman Willson Contreras, Bennnett remained in the game.

Closer Aroldis Chapman secured the win by getting the final three outs. This marked Chapman’s 23rd save of the season and his 390th career save, tying him with Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley for ninth all-time in career saves.

The Red Sox took an early 4-0 lead against Baltimore pitcher Dean Kremer in the first inning with Durbin’s line single and Duran’s two-out hit. Encarnacion-Strand’s homer brought the Orioles closer, making it 5-2 in the fourth before Rafaela’s shot over the Green Monster extended the lead.

Dean Kremer lasted six innings for the Orioles, allowing six runs. Looking ahead, RHP Kyle Bradish is set to start for Baltimore in the second game of the doubleheader. On the Red Sox side, LHP Eduardo Rivera is scheduled to take the mound.
