Sara Gilson, known on TikTok as Sara Duffey, was found dead along with her estranged husband, Jeremiah Shawn Duffey. Authorities in Owasso, Oklahoma, are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide. A child called 911, reporting that his step-father had shot his mother.
In the weeks leading up to the incident, Gilson had posted a TikTok video accusing her husband of being a pedophile. She captioned one of her videos, “Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex-husband who I just found out is a pedophile.” Her ex-husband, Lyle Landers, stated he had repeatedly urged her to leave Jeremiah, voicing concerns about domestic abuse. “I had begged her for five years to get away from him,” Landers shared.
Police records indicate that on June 9, a report accused Jeremiah Shawn Duffey, a basketball coach, of inappropriate conduct with a minor during a school event. A similar allegation had previously been made, leading to a case forwarded to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for lewd molestation charges.
Following the reported incident, Sara Duffey obtained an emergency protective order against Jeremiah. She also posted a video outlining sexual misconduct allegations. Another protective order came from a different woman, claiming Jeremiah had inappropriate physical contact with her 15-year-old daughter, a player on his basketball team. It was alleged that he paid the girl to stay silent.
