Las Vegas Aces forward NaLyssa Smith responded publicly after allegations of a cheating scandal were made by her ex-girlfriend, DiJonai Carrington. Carrington, a guard for the Chicago Sky, claimed on Threads that Smith had been unfaithful, involving multiple players, including Aces teammate Deja Kelly and Atlanta Dream guard Aaliyah Nye.
During a Twitch livestream, Smith addressed the accusations without confirming or denying them. She questioned Carrington’s motive for bringing their private history into the public one year after their breakup. Smith commented, ‘Whether she cheated on me or I cheated on her, why are we bringing that to the internet a year later…?
Smith expressed frustration over the involvement of Kelly and Nye, criticizing Carrington for drawing them into the dispute. ‘To bring up folks’ names that have nothing to do with anything… woke up to this on a random Sunday night,’ stated Smith.
Smith described an incident where Carrington confronted her, leading to security intervention. ‘DiJonai started an argument… I’m like, “Why I gotta be a b*tch?”‘ Smith said, explaining the situation that led to a commotion.
Smith refuted claims that she attended an event to monitor Carrington, asserting, ‘I’m sitting on the couch, minding my business… y’all gotta stop all that lying.’ She suggested alcohol might have influenced Carrington’s behavior.
The former Baylor teammates are set to face each other on August 1 when Chicago Sky hosts the Las Vegas Aces.
