D.C. Lawmakers React to Proposed Bill on Tax Initiatives

5 days ago 0

Local lawmakers expressed surprise when the House Oversight Committee Chair introduced a new bill. The proposal requires congressional approval for any tax initiative in Washington D.C. This development has caught many off guard.

Rep. James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, put forward this bill three months before the midterm elections. These elections will decide if Republicans keep control of the House and if Comer continues as the Oversight Committee Chair.

Previously, D.C. officials considered Comer a Republican they could collaborate with. This was due to his active support for the Washington Commanders’ potential return to a newly developed RFK Stadium.
