Police have identified the man accused of opening fire at a newly opened In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho. The suspect, Chad Williams, 24, was subdued by an off-duty state trooper and an armed citizen who returned fire during the incident.
According to Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks, Williams died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after fatally shooting both an employee and a customer. Authorities believe that Williams acted alone and was found dead near the restaurant.
“We want to take a moment and commend the actions of the off-duty officer and the citizen and their heroic action to stop this incident,” said Hicks at a news conference. “We believe their actions helped drive the suspect away from the scene, preventing further casualties.”
The shooting resulted in three deaths, with seven others injured, according to city spokesperson Josh Palmer. Of the injured, two have been released from the hospital, three are in stable condition, and two remain in critical condition.
