Diddy’s Changing Release Date

Sean “Diddy” Combs, the well-known rap mogul, faces another change in his federal prison release date. Initially slated for a January 2028 release, Diddy’s new date is set for February 20, 2028. This adjustment follows a period marked by several modifications since he started his sentence, with the Federal Bureau of Prisons providing the update.

Incident at FCI Fort Dix

Reports indicate Diddy was involved in an altercation at FCI Fort Dix prison last month. Allegedly placed in solitary confinement following a fight with another inmate, the incident raises questions about whether this affected his release date. An inmate’s remark reportedly initiated the event, as covered by ABC News.

“We do not release information regarding the conditions of confinement for any inmate, including housing assignments, nor do we discuss whether a particular inmate is the subject of allegations, investigations or sanctions,” stated a representative from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Diddy’s camp declined to comment on the recent developments.

Legal Background and Charges

Diddy’s legal troubles began in September 2024, leading to an arrest on federal sex trafficking charges. Claims of sexual misconduct, accompanied by lawsuits and investigations, haunted the rapper, along with a devastating video showing him allegedly assaulting Cassie Ventura, his then-girlfriend, in a Los Angeles hotel hallway. Convicted in July, Diddy received over four years of incarceration by October.

Cassie, pregnant with her third child, gave significant testimony during the trial, which spanned four days last summer.

Trial Outcomes

While initially facing life imprisonment on severe charges like racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking by force, Diddy was ultimately convicted on two counts: transportation to engage in prostitution. The jury delivered its verdict on July 2, 2025, acquitting him of the most serious allegations.

Beyond the 50-month prison term, Diddy must undergo five years of supervised release and pay a $500,000 fine. The prosecution originally sought a more extended sentence of 135 months.
