Police body camera footage captures the arrest of a Canadian woman in Florida after she reportedly provided a false name during a traffic stop. Deputies discovered 12 fake identification cards in her vehicle. Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister released the July 29 footage. It shows deputies stopping a vehicle in Tampa due to non-functioning taillights and tag lights.
The driver, 28-year-old Bryce Swanson, initially identified herself as “Brianna Valenzuela”. She claimed to have a driver’s license but said she did not have it with her. Authorities revealed she is a Canadian national who overstayed her visa.
Body camera footage shows Swanson informing a deputy she was visiting Florida from New York in a rental car, saying, “I live in New York. I’m here in Florida literally just visiting friends and stuff right now.” However, she could not provide any New York identification.
The deputy challenged her account, stating, “Your story’s not making a lot of sense to me, right? You say you live in New York, but you don’t have any ID in New York.” Swanson admitted to never having had a driver’s license.
A vehicle search revealed several fraudulent identification cards, all featuring Swanson’s photo but with different names and birthdates. “All these are fake,” a deputy said in the video before arresting Swanson.
She faced charges of driving without a valid driver’s license and giving a false name to law enforcement. Swanson was booked into the Orient Road Jail, held without bond due to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer.
