Her experience is supported by Dr. Julie Hammond, who explains that stopping the injection can cause hormone levels to fluctuate, affecting mood and energy. Ovulation may take up to a year to normalize, along with potential changes in menstrual cycles.

Dr. Hammond emphasized that women might genuinely experience symptoms during this transition period. “The symptoms are real and can be explained by physiological changes,” she stated.

Reasons for Stopping the Injection

Watson used Depo-Provera for over two years due to its convenience but decided to stop after learning of the risk of meningioma, as mentioned in safety updates from Pfizer. The injection is widely used, with the CDC reporting that 24.5% of sexually active women aged 15 to 49 have used it.

Following safety concerns, Pfizer updated warnings about the potential link between the injection and meningioma. They advise patients to seek medical help if they experience symptoms such as vision changes, worsening headaches, or seizures.
