Army Gynecologist Faces Charges Over Secret Recordings

An Army gynecologist, Dr. Blaine McGraw, pleaded not guilty to charges of secretly videotaping patients during medical exams. The charges include indecent visual recording, conduct unbecoming of an officer, willful disobedience of a superior officer, and making a false statement. The Army Office of Special Trial Counsel reported 44 victims initially throughout 2025.

McGraw attended a hearing at the Lawrence Williams Judicial Center on Fort Hood, presided over by military judge Colonel Jorge Rivera. Court information revealed nine charges and 273 specifications concerning 93 alleged victims, as reported by NBC News affiliate KCEN in Central Texas. The Army indicated the actions happened between 2021 and 2026.

Specific charges include 12 instances of sexual assault, 79 attempted sexual assaults, 66 indecent recordings, and 91 assaults consummated by a battery. McGraw faced these charges in December after the Army Criminal Investigation Division began an inquiry in October due to a patient’s complaint in Fort Hood, Texas. Many allegations relate to exams of female patients at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where he practiced.

NBC News shared details including an interview with a former patient who filed a lawsuit after discovering McGraw recorded her final appointment’s breast and pelvic exams without her consent. Her suit claims numerous other victims exist and accuses Army leadership of permitting McGraw’s continued practice despite complaints about misconduct.

Fort Hood authorities reported they suspended McGraw immediately and launched an investigation following the complaint in October. In November, the commander at Darnall Army Medical Center noted over 1,400 patients of McGraw were informed about the investigation. Additionally, the Army contacted his former patients at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii, where he worked from June 2019 to June 2023, to communicate information on the investigation and complaint procedures.
