On Tuesday, U.S. Capitol Police arrested Philan-Tam-Duy Le, a 35-year-old man from Julian, California. He was found with a guillotine in the bed of his pickup truck in Washington.
Le was arrested on suspicion of carrying a dangerous weapon. The arrest took place on the 100 block of East Capitol Street. According to the police, he drove from California to Washington. Investigators are examining his background to determine the reason for his visit to the capital.
The guillotine was discovered in his truck, which was illegally parked near the Capitol and the Supreme Court. Congress is currently in recess, with lawmakers in their respective home districts.
An Instagram account believed to belong to Le featured a video Story on Tuesday. The video showed a man with a guillotine outside FBI headquarters in Washington. In the video, the man mentions having cheese pizza outside the FBI building. The post included the captions “Guillotine adventures” and “Capitol hill next.”
Capitol Police often handle arrests beyond the Capitol grounds, and not all are politically driven.
