President Donald Trump will observe the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks at the Pentagon. This marks a departure from his previous involvement in Ground Zero ceremonies in New York City.
When questioned about not attending the event in his hometown, Trump stated, “Because I’m going to the Pentagon.” Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to represent the administration at the New York City ceremony. Additionally, other officials are set to attend a separate event in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
The decision came amid reports suggesting Trump initially intended to visit New York City but reconsidered after organizers barred speeches at the Ground Zero program. The White House has refuted this claim, labeling it as “FAKE NEWS.”
White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly highlighted the President’s commitment to honoring the victims and first responders, emphasizing his connection to the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
Trump’s history of commemorating 9/11 includes visiting the Pentagon on several anniversaries. He also appeared at Ground Zero in 2024 and participated in various events in New York City and Shanksville in prior years.
