In July, Husted, a Republican from Ohio, submitted his latest campaign finance report, revealing a reserve exceeding $6 million. However, this fund is not allocated for his contest with Democrat Sherrod Brown, projected to be one of the priciest Senate races of the year. Instead, the money is what remains from an account Husted set up years prior, intended for his long-standing aspiration to become governor.
