Sen. Jon Husted is encountering significant difficulties in a crucial race against former Sen. Sherrod Brown. Concerns are arising within Republican ranks about Husted’s dedication to the campaign. A Republican operative, engaged in maintaining the party’s Senate majority, noted that Husted has been under intense pressure.
In July, Husted, a Republican from Ohio, submitted his latest campaign finance report, revealing a reserve exceeding $6 million. However, this fund is not allocated for his contest with Democrat Sherrod Brown, projected to be one of the priciest Senate races of the year. Instead, the money is what remains from an account Husted set up years prior, intended for his long-standing aspiration to become governor.
