A jury in Nevada has found Duane “Keffe D” Davis guilty of first-degree murder in the 1996 drive-by shooting of rap legend Tupac Shakur. The Associated Press reported that the verdict was delivered on Monday, following the start of deliberations earlier that day after closing arguments in the widely followed trial.
The 16-member jury, which included four alternate members, listened to nine days of testimony. This included statements from 24 prosecution witnesses, alongside three defense witnesses.
Tupac Shakur was fatally wounded on September 7, 1996, during a drive-by shooting on the Las Vegas Strip. A gunman in a white Cadillac targeted a BMW carrying Shakur and Marion “Suge” Knight. Knight sustained only minor injuries, but Shakur died of his injuries six days later at the age of 25.
