U.S. Government Supports Energy Initiatives in Venezuela

1 hour ago 0

The U.S. government is taking steps to support energy projects in Venezuela that major producers have chosen not to pursue. This decision comes after significant political changes in the country.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright is scheduled to meet with Venezuelan acting President Delcy Rodriguez in Caracas. This meeting is seen as a continuation of diplomatic efforts following the removal of Nicolás Maduro by President Donald Trump in January.

The removal of the socialist dictator opened a unique opportunity to address the failures of Venezuela’s socialist policies. The nation seemed poised to embrace pro-America opposition that could introduce a free market and alleviate the state’s restrictive hold on oil production.

However, eight months later, the White House’s agreement with Maduro’s former vice president poses challenges. It risks reinforcing established authorities and continuing the policies that previously harmed Venezuela’s economy.
