Police initiated an investigation at Trader Joe’s located at West 3rd Street and Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles following a fatal car accident on Thursday afternoon.
According to authorities, a woman driving collided with a group of pedestrians in the parking lot near the Grove. The Los Angeles Fire Department received a report at 1:21 p.m. concerning a vehicle that crashed into a security stand at the intersection of 3rd Street and Fairfax Avenue.
One person was confirmed dead at the location, while four others were injured and subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Los Angeles Police Department identified the driver as a woman in her 80s. The incident is being thoroughly investigated. Helicopter footage from KTLA depicted paramedics treating the injured individuals. Additionally, a white canopy was set up over the deceased person, and a white sedan with front-end damage was observed pinned against a partially crushed structure.
Firefighters were seen wheeling an elderly woman in a wheelchair. Details regarding the identity of the deceased and the exact cause of the crash have not yet been disclosed.
