Senator Adam Schiff, a Democrat from California, who had a prominent role in Trump’s first impeachment, surprisingly supports this initiative. He expressed agreement with Trump on social media, emphasizing the need for Congress to implement a federal film tax incentive. Schiff called for unity between Republicans and Democrats to bring back jobs and the film industry to the U.S.
The entertainment industry has faced setbacks post-COVID-19 and amidst a changing streaming landscape. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports 49,000 job losses since 2022.

California recently expanded its Film & Television Tax Credit Program to $750 million, aiming to regain lost productions. However, Governor Gavin Newsom’s imposition of a $5 million state corporate tax credit cap hinders these efforts.
States such as Georgia and New York, along with countries like Canada and the UK, currently offer more competitive tax incentives, attracting productions away from the U.S.
