After a Partner’s Death, Support from Friends is Lacking

Dear Eric: I recently lost my life partner unexpectedly, and the experience has been incredibly distressing. During this challenging time, our mutual friends assured me of their availability for conversation and assistance whenever needed. However, when I have attempted to engage with them, their support has been minimal. Rather than being a reliable network, they tend to distance themselves, leaving me to navigate this loss with limited assistance.
