Senator John Curtis Calls for Investigation into Donald Trump Jr’s Foreign Business Dealings

Senator John Curtis, a Republican, has publicly called for an investigation into Donald Trump Jr’s foreign business activities and the gifts he has accepted from international figures. Curtis’s concerns center on a Russian oligarch’s funding of a “lavish wedding afterparty” for Trump Jr.

In a letter addressed to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday, Curtis highlighted that the oligarch, Umar Kremlev, financed Trump Jr’s wedding celebration on a private island. This occurred shortly after Kremlev was reportedly part of a delegation that traveled to China with Vladimir Putin.

Curtis’s letter also pointed to Trump Jr’s active involvement in promoting family-backed cryptocurrency ventures. He raised issues about Trump Jr’s international real estate dealings, which include direct meetings with foreign leaders, as well as his investments in defense contracting.

“These reports raise legitimate questions about foreign access to members of a sitting president’s family and whether such relationships can create actual or perceived expectations of favorable treatment,” Curtis stated. “They also may create expectations of a returned favor that would not be in the best interests of the American people or our allies, and could even create national security vulnerabilities.”

Senator Curtis urged the committee to investigate the potential use of private family ties for personal financial gain or preferential treatment by domestic and foreign entities. He also requested that both Donald Trump Jr and Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, be subpoenaed to testify about their business practices.
