Socialist Figures in America Benefit from Capitalism, Critic Says

Economist Stephen Moore asserts that socialist and progressive public figures profit within the capitalist system they aim to change. Moore, a former senior economic adviser to President Trump, shared with Fox News Digital that the United States uniquely rewards those critical of capitalism.

Public figures like Sen. Bernie Sanders and political commentator Hasan Piker, Moore says, have thrived on the wealth and opportunities of the American economy while promoting socialist policies.

There’s no country in the world where you can get rich off of attacking free market capitalism better than in the United States,

Moore commented, noting the wealth of notable voices in the socialist movement, including millionaires who criticize the same system that enriched them.

Moore referenced a USA Today opinion piece titled Hasan Piker’s luxury lifestyle isn’t what Marx had in mind, highlighting the wealth of democratic socialists like Piker, Sanders, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, despite their critiques of capitalism as immoral. The piece noted their minimal charitable contributions.

Moore highlighted a perceived hypocrisy among socialist advocates who have attained wealth through capitalism. He suggested these figures could better align with their values by donating more of their wealth.

Moore remarked, arguing these individuals could sell assets and aid the poor.

According to Moore, free market capitalists tend to be more generous in charitable donations compared to their socialist counterparts. He cited a famous book supporting this claim.

Moreover, Moore accused certain socialist figures of concealing their wealth to appear more relatable to the working class.

Moore stated that the notion of getting rich through attacking capitalism is unique to the U.S., and he questioned why anyone would support more socialism in America after witnessing its failures elsewhere.
