The Indiana Fever entered the postseason with little momentum, having suffered a 20-point defeat to the Minnesota Lynx in their regular-season finale. The lack of good form continued in their playoff opener against the Las Vegas Aces, where they faced a strong challenge in Game 1 of the best-of-three first-round series.

In the match, held at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, the Aces dominated the Fever 102-85. A’ja Wilson delivered an impressive performance, scoring 38 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Her contributions were key to the Aces’ success, overpowering the defending champions from the start. The Fever, despite their regular-season win over Las Vegas, struggled to compete against the Aces’ physical and disciplined defense.

Indiana’s backcourt faced constant pressure, contending with traps and double teams throughout the game. Caitlin Clark achieved a double-double, tallying 15 points, 10 assists, and three rebounds. However, the Aces disrupted her shooting rhythm, leading to six turnovers and five fouls. Kelsey Mitchell also encountered difficulties, scoring 12 points and making only 4-of-16 shots.

Aliyah Boston led the Fever in scoring, contributing 18 points, along with eight rebounds and four assists. Sophie Cunningham provided energy off the bench, scoring 13 points and hitting three shots from deep. Despite these efforts, the Fever lacked offensive power to match the Aces.
