The Kentucky Wildcats have once again defied the odds, clinching a thrilling victory against the No. 10 LSU Tigers with a strategic move in overtime.

Last week, the Wildcats demonstrated their boldness by opting for a two-point conversion in overtime against South Carolina—a decision that secured their win. Remarkably, they employed the same strategy against LSU, prevailing with a 35-34 triumph.

Throughout the game, both teams exchanged blows in scoring drives. Kenny Minchy of the Wildcats and Sam Leavitt of the Tigers had standout performances, achieving 275 and 246 passing yards respectively.

The game was locked at 27-27 by the end of regulation, leading to overtime where LSU gained the first possession. Leavitt advanced with a 10-yard pass followed by a 15-yard run for a touchdown, putting LSU ahead. Scott Starzyk’s extra point bolstered their lead to seven.

Drawing from past experience, Kentucky responded with CJ Baxter executing a 1-yard run for a touchdown. Staying true to their approach, Coach Will Stein called for a two-point conversion attempt. Preparations saw drama unfold with both coaches using timeouts strategically, while Kentucky narrowly avoided a false start penalty.

When the play commenced, LSU anticipated a pass, allowing Minchy to exploit the open field and dash into the end zone for the decisive score.

This back-to-back overtime victory by a single point is unprecedented in FBS history, showcasing the calculated risks paying off for the Wildcats.

This momentous win bolsters Kentucky, while dealing a blow to the Tigers who are grappling with their second loss this season.
