This took place on Wednesday night while the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Ranger helicopter was providing crucial aerial support to the Flagstaff Police Department and other enforcement agencies.
Sgt. Kameron Lee, spokesperson for the AZDPS, confirmed the crash, though the identities of the deceased pilot and paramedic have not yet been disclosed.
The helicopter was assisting in an active shooter situation, which involved an exchange of gunfire between officers on the ground and the suspect.
