The trailer for 20th Century Studios’ “Whalefall” features stars such as Austin Abrams, Josh Brolin, John Ortiz, and Elisabeth Shue. Directed by Brian Duffield, the film captures attention with its compelling cast.

Josh Brolin, known for his role in “Dune,” dedicates his mornings to sobriety. He participates in a recovery meeting on Zoom daily at 6 a.m. This routine is a fundamental part of his life after his battles with alcohol. Brolin shared with The Telegraph, “Drinking got boring in the end,” when reflecting on his decision to quit.

Brolin recounted a moment of awakening after once finding himself on the sidewalk outside his home. This experience pushed him to reconsider his life’s direction significantly.

Brolin wholeheartedly attends these daily meetings, noting that sobriety offers more enjoyment than alcohol did. “I love being sober. I’m having way more fun now than I ever did drinking, and I never end up in jail, which is a real bonus,” he stated.

The actor has also struggled with nicotine addiction. On the “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast in 2024, Brolin disclosed that nicotine pouches became a staple after quitting chewing tobacco. Pouches could be found throughout his home, and he sometimes used them unconsciously.

“My wife would hear this in the middle of the night,” Brolin recounted, describing his nocturnal use. He realized he would sometimes have them in his lip without being aware.

Brolin shares his life with wife Kathryn, with whom he married in 2016, and they have two children.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nicotine pouches contain nicotine, flavorings, and other ingredients. Nicotine gets absorbed through the gums, and this highly addictive substance requires further research regarding its health effects.

Brolin’s journey with addiction, including alcohol and nicotine, is candidly explored in his memoir, “From Under the Truck,” released in 2024. The memoir delves into personal experiences that influenced his recovery path.

Brolin is known for notable roles in films like “Avengers: Endgame” and “No Country for Old Men.” He stars in “Whalefall” alongside Austin Abrams and Elisabeth Shue.
