Rapper and vocal Donald Trump supporter Nicki Minaj recently directed criticism at New York state’s Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul. The dispute began with a playful suggestion that Minaj could serve as the next White House press secretary. In a post on X, Minaj labeled Hochul as ‘evil’ and proclaimed that she would ‘not escape God’s wrath.’
Minaj addressed ‘BLACK PEOPLE’ and ‘CHRISTIANS’ specifically, urging them to vote for Bruce Blakeman, Hochul’s Republican opponent. In response, Hochul advised Minaj to ‘get outside.’
Despite Trump’s declining approval ratings, his support from some celebrities like Minaj remains strong. Current polls position Hochul as a leading candidate for re-election in the upcoming New York midterms.
On X, Minaj expressed her views, saying: ‘Kathy Hochul is an evil woman. The Democratic Party should forfeit her seat because even if she wins, she will be of great consequence to them. Downward spiral for her. She will not escape God’s wrath. She did not denounce evil when she had the chance.’
Minaj also shared a video clip of Hochul’s controversial comments from 2024: ‘We have Black kids growing up in the Bronx who don’t even know what the word computer is.’ Minaj added: ‘HOW MUCH MORE DO YOU NEED TO SEE & HEAR FROM THEM?!! HOW DARE YOU AS BLACK PEOPLE VOTE FOR THIS VILE WICKED CURSE OF A WOMAN? HOW DARE YOU AS CHRISTIANS?!’
Hochul has since apologized for the remark, stating: ‘I misspoke and I regret it. Of course Black children in the Bronx know what computers are.’
In a recent press interaction, Hochul responded to Minaj’s comments, suggesting that the singer should ‘get outside,’ and remarked that attending Trump rallies ‘poisoned’ her mind. New York Post Albany reporter Vaughn Golden shared a clip of these remarks, which garnered over 2,200 likes on X.
Nicki Minaj traveled with Trump to a campaign rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on October 25. Onboard, Steven Cheung, the White House director of communications, shared a video of Minaj, humorously suggesting she might become the new White House Press Secretary. The post went viral, attracting over 5.4 million views and 32,000 likes. In response, the official White House X account reacted with the ‘eyeballs’ emoji.
