As New Hampshire voters headed to a Bedford polling site, they encountered a surprise visit from former NFL player Rob Gronkowski. Encouraging civic participation, Gronkowski stated, “My message out here in New Hampshire is just to go out there and vote. It doesn’t matter what party you’re voting for.” Joined by his girlfriend Camille Kostek and Governor Kelly Ayotte, Gronkowski mingled with fans, taking photos and signing items. He expressed joy at the high voter turnout, emphasizing the importance of freedom and voting.

In Michigan, former Congressman Mike Rogers, running for Senate, expressed optimism about his prospects against Democrat Abdul El-Sayed. He praised Rep. Haley Stevens for crossing party lines to support him, citing her decision as “country over party.” Stevens’ unexpected endorsement followed a dispute with El-Sayed, adding a unique twist to the Michigan Senate race.

Meanwhile, Suzan DelBene of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee focused on ensuring all votes in Westchester County, New York, are counted amid issues with voting machines. DelBene described Democratic efforts to regain the House as urgent, projecting a strong victory in the 2026 election.

On another front, Election Day gas prices reached a historic high, with a national average of $4.14 per gallon according to AAA. The elevated prices were a central issue in the midterms as voters grappled with increased living costs since the start of the Iran war and other economic factors.

In Ohio, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton criticized opponent Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign ad featuring her estranged mother as crossing a line. She pledged to work with anyone dedicated to improving lives if elected governor.

Voter turnout in Florida mirrored the 2022 midterm elections, despite varying activity levels across counties. Democratic-leaning areas showed higher turnout increases, impacting Senate and governor races.

Across the United States, polls opened in all 50 states, allowing Americans to cast their ballots. Notably, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency deviated from tradition by not holding media briefings, despite prior practices during major elections to ensure election security.

In addition to domestic developments, NAACP President Derrick Johnson noted a significant increase in early voting among Black communities in the South. He attributed this to pressing issues like the economy and a recent Supreme Court decision affecting congressional maps.

Colorado faced challenges with voter access due to severe flooding, prompting adjustments to polling locations and ballot procedures. Governor Jared Polis assured affected residents of alternative voting options to ensure participation.

Finally, an unorthodox vote took place from space as NASA astronaut Anil Menon cast his ballot electronically from the International Space Station, demonstrating the possibilities of remote voting.
