A retired NYPD officer residing in Florida has been arrested due to a social media post urging for the beheading of a Pinellas County commissioner. Rodolfo Mienert, living in St. Petersburg, made the threat after Commissioner Brian Scott voted to allow the expansion of a local mosque.

Mienert, 68, used Facebook to criticize Scott, labeling him a ‘Republican turncoat’ and writing, ‘off with his head!’ The username he employed for this comment was ‘Rudy MineAllmine,’ as confirmed by an affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital.

The account’s profile image displayed Bugs Bunny holding a revolver, accompanied by a provocative bio. A recent post from the account shared Scott’s campaign video, urging others not to vote for him due to his support for the mosque expansion.

Investigators traced the IP address back to Mienert, who admitted ownership of the account. He described himself to detectives as outspoken on political matters and expressed discontent with Scott’s vote.

Mienert attended a Pinellas County Commission meeting on October 27, where the mosque issue was discussed. He voiced concerns that the mosque’s expansion could harm the environment and exacerbate traffic problems.

Following Mienert’s arrest, charged with a felony for making an electronic threat to kill, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri emphasized that such menacing threats are unacceptable and promised strict law enforcement.

Mienert, who served 22 years with the NYPD, remains detained in Pinellas County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court.
