Trump’s Staff Changes as Susie Wiles Departs and Stephen Miller Steps Up

1 hour ago 0

President Donald Trump announced a significant staffing change with the departure of White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. This shift follows a disappointing midterm election loss earlier in the week.

Stephen Miller, a trusted advisor to the president, will assume Wiles’ former position. Miller’s appointment signals Trump’s strategic approach in the upcoming political challenges with Democrats. Trump expressed gratitude for Wiles’ service and acknowledged her new role in his political team, stating on Truth Social, “She has done a great job!”

Wiles, who has served as Trump’s chief of staff since his second term began, described her tenure as the “honor of a lifetime.” Despite her change in role, Wiles reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to the president and his mission.

“While my role may be changing, my commitment to the President and the mission never will,” Wiles stated.

The specifics of Wiles’ new role in Trump’s political organization remain unclear. However, reports suggest tensions between Wiles and Trump arose after the Democrats overtook Republican control in Congress. CNN noted that Wiles offered her resignation to Trump on Thursday night.

As of Friday afternoon, Miller had yet to comment publicly on his new position. White House spokesperson Steven Cheung described Miller on X as a “Trump OG,” emphasizing his dedication to the Trump agenda.

“There is no bigger advocate for the Trump agenda than Stephen, and he will help the Administration deliver on monumental victories for the rest of this historic second term,” Cheung stated.

Miller has served as an advisor since Trump’s first term. Known for his aggressive political strategies, Miller was integral to implementing the administration’s immigration policies, even involving federal agent actions in Minnesota earlier in the year.

Additionally, Miller spearheaded initiatives addressing what the administration deemed left-wing political extremism. He was a key figure in the development of NSPM-7, a national security memo aimed at classifying left-leaning groups as domestic terrorists.

In pursuing the chief of staff role, Miller reportedly emphasized the importance of dialing down the Iran conflict, aligning with the president’s supporters’ views.

As chief of staff, Miller will significantly influence policy and congressional interactions. His elevation occurs as Democrats prepare to deploy their majority power to scrutinize Trump and his circle with subpoenas and investigations.
