2 months ago 0

Anthony Davis’ time with the Dallas Mavericks, marked by frequent injuries, seems to have reached its conclusion. On Wednesday, reports from ESPN surfaced indicating that Davis, a 10-time All-Star forward, is involved in a major trade that will send him to the Washington Wizards.

In this significant trade agreement, the Mavericks are set to receive a package including players Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, and Marvin Bagley III. Along with the player exchange, the deal includes multiple first-round and second-round draft picks, marking a significant shift in the Mavericks’ roster strategy.

Joining Davis in Washington will be Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell, and Dante Exum, further solidifying the Wizards’ intention to build a competitive lineup. This trade is the second substantial move for Washington in 2026.

In another recent development, the Wizards acquired four-time All-Star Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks. This transaction involved players CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert moving to the Hawks. However, Young has been sidelined with knee and quadriceps issues and awaits reevaluation following the upcoming All-Star break.

Previously, in January, Davis suffered a ligament injury in his left hand. The Mavericks confirmed that he avoided surgery. It was anticipated that Davis would need approximately six weeks to fully recover from this injury, impacting his gameplay and contributions to the team.
