Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has publicly challenged House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer to allow her and former President Bill Clinton to participate in a public hearing regarding the Epstein files. Clinton’s call to action was shared in a post on X, expressing frustration with the committee’s handling of their previous testimonies.
Clinton stated, “For six months, we engaged Republicans on the Oversight Committee in good faith. We told them what we know, under oath. They ignored all of it. They moved the goalposts and turned accountability into an exercise in distraction.” The former secretary emphasized the need for transparency, urging Comer to allow a public hearing with cameras present.

In response, Comer announced that both Hillary and Bill Clinton would provide closed-door, transcribed interviews on February 26 and 27, respectively. Comer confirmed these interviews would be filmed, ensuring a level of documentation. This agreement came in light of potential contempt of Congress votes in the House if the Clintons had refused to appear.
The House Oversight Committee had shown bipartisan support for advancing contempt resolutions against the Clintons, with nine Democrats joining Republicans in voting for a House-wide vote on Bill Clinton’s resolution and an additional three Democrats supporting the resolution against Hillary Clinton.

If the contempt votes had passed, the Clintons could have faced referral to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution. Comer stated, “Republicans and Democrats on the Oversight Committee have been clear: no one is above the law – and that includes the Clintons.” He highlighted the importance of the forthcoming interviews in promoting transparency and accountability regarding the Epstein investigation.
