Marjorie Taylor Greene Criticizes Trump’s Endorsements

1 month ago 0

Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has once again voiced her criticism of President Donald Trump’s endorsement record, following his support of Republican Representative María Elvira Salazar of Florida for re-election. Greene accused Trump of backing candidates who contradict his base, stating, “She supports illegals more than most democrats. His endorsements are an insult to his base,” in a social media post.

Fox News Digital reached out to Salazar’s campaign for a response but had not received one at the time of reporting. Similarly, the White House had not commented on the matter either.

On Truth Social, President Trump praised Salazar, expressing full support for her re-election as the GOP strives to maintain its majority in the 2026 midterms. “Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar is doing a truly fantastic job representing the wonderful people of Florida’s 27th Congressional District!” Trump stated, further adding that she has his “Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election – SHE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”

Since her election to the House in early 2021, Salazar has expressed gratitude for the president’s endorsement. She reiterated her commitment to her constituents, focusing on goals like improving immigration systems, enhancing border security, reducing housing costs, protecting jobs, and guarding against political ideologies like socialism and communism.

In her response, Salazar stated on social media, “Thank you, President Trump @POTUS, for your support. I will continue to proudly represent FL-27 in Congress and fight for what our community deserves,” before listing her priorities which include restoring dignity to the immigration system and maintaining a robust economy.

Greene, who has been a staunch Trump supporter, resigned last month following a fallout with the president last year. Her previous critiques label Trump’s endorsements as counterproductive to his aim of “draining the swamp,” claiming they reinforce it instead.

A White House spokesperson, Davis Ingle, defended Trump’s strategy, emphasizing his skill in coalition-building that has strengthened the Republican Party. Ingle remarked, “President Trump knows politics is a game of addition, and Marjorie ‘Quitter’ Greene just lives a reductive, self-defeating life of subtraction.”
