1 month ago 0

On February 1, Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, was reported missing, sparking a tense search and ongoing investigation. As of February 9, 2026, Savannah Guthrie and her siblings are faced with the harrowing demand for a bitcoin ransom. The deadline set by the individuals claiming to have kidnapped their mother looms ominously, prompting the family to take serious action.

In an emotional message shared on Instagram, “Today” host Savannah Guthrie addressed the situation directly, alongside her siblings. She made an earnest plea to the kidnappers, saying, “We received your message and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.” Her heartfelt message underscores the gravity of the family’s situation.

Nancy Guthrie, who is 84 years old, was last seen on January 31. Authorities suspect she was abducted from her home located near Tucson, Arizona. The family has been proactive in their response, with Savannah making a public appeal for her mother’s safe return, supported by her siblings Annie and Camron.

The Pima County Sheriff’s office acknowledged the video posted by the Guthrie family but stated that they do not have additional information to share at this time. Meanwhile, the message mentioned by Savannah in her Instagram post is currently under investigation by the FBI and the Pima Sheriff’s Department.

A source familiar with the investigation notes that investigators have not yet verified the authenticity of the message received by a Tucson television station, which is one of several ransom notes mentioning Nancy Guthrie.

In efforts to progress their investigation, law enforcement has frequently revisited both the home of Nancy’s daughter, Annie, where Nancy was last seen enjoying a dinner and game night, and Nancy’s own home. Their examination has included reviewing rooftop camera footage, towing a vehicle, and speaking with neighbors for any potential leads.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that this is “an active and ongoing investigation.” However, it has been challenging to make headway as investigators have not yet identified any suspects, persons of interest, or relevant vehicles connected to the case.

The entire Guthrie family, alongside local authorities, remains hopeful and vigilant as they search for answers in this distressing case.
