A 14-year-old is currently in custody after being accused of discussing a plan to execute a shooting at a church located in Wimauma, Florida. This announcement was made by Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister on Wednesday. According to the sheriff, the teen had engaged in discussions within an online chat room specifically intended for individuals with extremist views.
The young suspect is further accused of being associated with a Neo-Nazi Satanic group. A search warrant executed at the suspect’s residence reportedly led to the discovery of multiple firearms, a supply of ammunition, and electronic devices that contained material related to child sexual abuse.
“Think about the potential of the violence that could have occurred,” remarked Sheriff Chronister.
Among the firearms seized was one that had been kept on the father’s nightstand, suggesting ease of access for the teenager.
The arrest was carried out at the suspect’s home on January 31. Prior to this, the Joint Terrorism Task Force had been tipped off by the Internet Predator Unit, which was conducting an investigation into activity on a computer found at the residence.
Aside from the charges related to terrorism, the young suspect is facing fourteen counts of solicitation or possession of child pornography.
