The Tragic Shooting Incident Involving Texas Teens

On the evening of December 23, 2023, local police were dispatched to a residence in Friendswood, Texas. Upon arrival, they encountered 17-year-old Connor Hilton, who appeared distressed and admitted to a serious incident involving violence. Hilton nodded to the officer’s inquiry about whether someone was hurt, holding up two fingers to signify two individuals were injured.

As officials entered the home, they found Ethan Riley, 18, and Benjamin Bliek, 19, with gunshot wounds to the head. A 15-year-old boy who was hiding in the bathroom called 911. As the trial approached, prosecutors offered Hilton a plea deal: 50 years imprisonment in exchange for pleading guilty to murder and aggravated assault. While his parents believed the medication played a role, Hilton chose to accept the plea, prioritizing the wishes of the victims’ families and the avoidance of a potential life sentence.

During a poignant courtroom proceeding, the victims’ families expressed their grief and frustration. Matthew Riley, Ethan’s father, spoke of his son’s loving nature, and Shannon Bliek criticized Connor’s mother for providing her son access to a gun.

Hilton is now incarcerated, eligible for parole in 2050 at age 43.
