Player’s Injury Interrupts Stanley Cup Game

3 weeks ago 0

A frightening incident briefly halted Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday night when a player was hit in the face by a puck, leading to hospitalization.

Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb was seen leaving the ice, holding his face after an 87 mph shot made contact. The slap shot, delivered by Carolina’s Nikolaj Ehlers, struck McNabb during the first period. He immediately dropped his stick and headed off the ice, clutching his nose.

The ESPN broadcast later confirmed early in the second period that McNabb had been taken to a local hospital for treatment.

McNabb had previously achieved his first three-assist game in Game 1. He is among the three original players who have been with the Golden Knights throughout the franchise’s nine-year history and are competing in their third final.

“Losing a guy like Nabber, who plays so hard and is such a good teammate, is tough,” stated team captain Mark Stone. The team fought valiantly but felt the absence of their key player.

Noah Hanifin, another defenseman for the Golden Knights, expressed his concern, “It’s hard to see that happen to any teammate, especially someone so crucial to the team like Nabber. We’re all hoping for his quick recovery.”

Head coach John Tortorella did not have additional information on McNabb’s condition after the game.

Despite leading 2-0 in the third period, the Golden Knights lost their advantage. Carolina Hurricanes’ player Seth Jarvis scored, evening the series at one game apiece as both teams prepare to head west.
