Rep. Susie Lee Secures Victory in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District Primary

Incumbent Representative Susie Lee has claimed victory in the Democratic primary for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District. This region, which includes the southern part of the Las Vegas metro area and extends to less populated areas like Searchlight, is considered a competitive swing district. The Cook Political Report gives it a D+1 rating.

Lee, recognized by Georgetown University’s Lugar Center as one of the top ten most bipartisan members of Congress, faced competition from James Lally, Terrill Robinson, and Brandon West during the primary. While praised for her bipartisanship, Lee has faced criticism from Republicans for opposing the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Reports indicated that the bill included significant financial support for rural Nevada.

Lee has received backing from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and corporations like Boeing as reported by The Center Square. Meanwhile, Lee’s reputation as a bipartisan lawmaker has been challenged by Lally, a cardiologist, who suggested it misrepresented her ability to reach across party lines to Republican voters.

Republicans in the district have rallied around Trump’s “No Tax On Tips” policy, which appeals to many tipped workers in the region due to its proximity to the Las Vegas Strip. Terrill Robinson, a Marine Corps veteran and former staffer for Congressman Dina Titus, has highlighted concerns about the growing influence of corporate money and political self-interest through his campaign.

Brandon West shared his diverse work experiences, which include stints at Carl’s Jr., the Transportation Security Administration, and the Service Employees International Union. His platform includes ending all U.S. aid to Israel and decommissioning ICE. West expressed that his career journey has shaped his understanding of varied perspectives and his commitment to Las Vegas, where he resides.

Recently, Lee was involved in controversy over an expletive-filled social media post criticizing Trump regarding the birthright citizenship Supreme Court case. Lee later addressed the criticism, defending her reaction as a response to what she sees as attacks on the Constitution and its principles. She emphasized her dedication to protecting and defending it.
