The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has not been contacted by Mexican authorities, despite reports of an anonymous tip suggesting a search for Nancy Guthrie in Mexico. Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, leader of Buscando Corazones Nogales in Sonora, Mexico, shared that they received a tip claiming a grave matching Guthrie’s description could be in the Mariposa area near Nogales.
Buscando Corazones Nogales is an organization dedicated to locating missing individuals in Mexico.
According to 12 News, searchers were directed to the location based on the tip regarding the 84-year-old woman.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos addressed these developments on social media. “At this time, we have not been contacted by Mexican authorities,” he affirmed, emphasizing that the investigation is active. The Sheriff added that the department is committed to pursuing credible information.
Guthrie disappeared from her Tucson home in early February 2026. While authorities suspect abduction, there is no indication she was taken across the border. Video footage shows a masked individual wearing gloves near the home at the time of her disappearance. Weeks earlier, another masked person was captured lurking near her home.
By the time law enforcement arrived, Guthrie’s back door was found propped open. This raised questions about multiple perpetrators. Supposed ransom notes appeared in media outlets like TMZ, yet no arrests have been made.
Guthrie’s missing poster remains visible, drawing attention to her unresolved case.
